The Festival
For more than twenty years, we have celebrated the annual arrival of nearly 35,000 sandhill cranes in Othello, Washington, every March as they journey north to their breeding grounds in Alaska. This festival offers a fantastic opportunity to observe the cranes up close, guided by local experts. Additionally, it provides specialized tours that highlight the region's flora, fauna, and geology, along with engaging lectures and activities designed for children.
Over the years, the festival has expanded, attracting returning participants from across the country.

The Othello Sandhill Crane Festival is coordinated by the Grant County Conservation District and is made possible by the generous contributions of our dedicated volunteers, board members, sponsors, and the experts who share their passions with us.
